First release of Apache Hive officially

Hey everyone, anyone has any idea about when was the first version of Apache Hive released officially?

Hello Malvika, Apache Hive is a data warehouse infrastructure built on the top of Hadoop for providing data summarization, query and analysis. It was intially developed by Facebook and is used today by companies like Netflix. The stable release of version 0.13.1 was on June 6,2014. The development of Hive started around 08/2007 and open source release happened on 08/2008. It started off as a layer on the top of Hadoop Streaming. It soon became popular within facebook internally and was used in ads and feed of facebook. As more and more people within facebook started contributing to it, a significant amount of code was duplicated and as a result work was soon started on Hive-2 which was a fresh start on Hive. Hive-2 eventually became the open source Hive that was first contributed as a Hadoop contrib project and later became an Apache project. Hive-2 was released internally in Facebook before being contributed to open source. Hive-1 continued to exist internally in Facebook till 2011. The first version of Hive after becoming open source was Hive 0.10 and was released on January 11,2013. You can have a look at the other versions of Hive here hive.apache.org/downloads.html. It was built with the purpose of enabling people well versed with SQL to leverage hadoop platform. So prior to Hive it was not possible to use SQL queries with Hadoop.
Hope this helps
